Burg Layer Johannisberg

Weißburgunder 2019

Fruity aromas of ripe apricot and pear underpinned by fine vanilla notes. A creamy Pinot Blanc with a lot of melt and backbone. Even though the wine is to be enjoyed now, it offers a lot of potential for ageing and maturation.

Site

Burg Layer Johannisberg – in the immediate vicinity of the village of Burg Layen, the vineyards lie at an altitude of 195 to 290 metres. The site, which faces south-east, has a slope of 16 to 33%. The soil consists mainly of stony loam, slate, quartzite and loess.

Johannisberg

Characteristic

The long maturation period of 10 months on the fine lees – partly in traditional piece barrels and in steel tanks – led to the development of a variety of aromas and the complexity of the wine.

Food pairing

We enjoyed this Pinot Blanc together with tagliatelle alla vongole and can only recommend the combination.
