Dorsheimer Goldloch – The Dorsheimer Goldlochs site is one of the top sites on the Nahe. The south-facing steep slope has a gradient of 45 to 55%. The soil is characterised by gravelly-sandy loam with a proportion of blue Devonian slate and rocky conglomerates. An ideal terroir for great Rieslings.
The Riesling grapes from selected parcels of this magnificent site were one of the highlights of the 2021 vintage for us. This impression was confirmed during the creation of this wine and was therefore selected as our top Riesling for the Pieroth Grosses Gewächs. After spontaneous fermentation – i.e. the fermentation process took place without the addition of pure yeasts – in large barrels, the wine matured for ten months on the fine lees in oak barrels and at least a further six months in the bottle.
The wine displays elegant fruity flavours with a mineral note. Citrus notes, ripe apricot, flint rounded off with juicy peach. The acidity is present but very well integrated. A complex yet straightforwardly structured Riesling with a generous finish. A great wine that can be enjoyed now, but offers very good potential for ageing in the future.
Goes perfectly with river and sea fish or veal dishes such as saltimbocca.
