The Dorsheimer Goldlochs site is one of the top sites on the Nahe. The south-facing steep slope has a gradient of 45 to 55%. The soil is characterised by gravelly-sandy loam with a proportion of blue Devonian slate and rocky conglomerates. An ideal terroir for great Rieslings.
The Riesling grapes from selected parcels of this great site were one of the highlights of the 2022 vintage for us. This impression was confirmed during the creation of this wine and was therefore selected as our top Riesling for the Pieroth Grosse Gewächs. After spontaneous fermentation – i.e. the fermentation process took place without the addition of pure yeasts – in large barrels, the wine matured for ten months on the fine lees in oak barrels and at least a further six months in the bottle.
The wine is multi-layered, with an expressive minerality, flint can be tasted, along with fruity notes of vineyard peach, apricot and a hint of bergamot. The flavours are harmoniously balanced. This complex Riesling shows a good structure, is already very pleasing when young, but in particular offers very promising potential for further development in the coming years.
This wine goes wonderfully with loupe de mer in salt crust and also with a cheese platter.
