Dorsheimer Pittermännchen – the south-facing vineyard, situated at an altitude of 160 to 210 m, is one of our steepest sites with a slope of 40% up to 55%.
The skeleton-rich soil with components of slate, quartzite, gravelly-sandy loam forms an ideal terroir for great Riesling with a lot of ripening potential.
The long maturation period of 10 months on the fine lees – partly in traditional oak barrels and in stainless steel tanks – led to the expression of a variety of aromas and to the complexity of the wine.
The aroma spectrum ranges from fruity notes like apple and peach to mineral notes. The wine convinces with a good acid structure, is tangy and fresh but also playful and elegant. A classic Riesling that reflects well the typicality of the terroir on the lower Nahe. A Riesling with good ageing potential.
An excellent companion to fish and seafood. We enjoyed this Riesling with monkfish medallions with porcini mushrooms.
