Burg Layer Rothenberg – The hillside site faces east-south-east and lies at an altitude of 170 m to 232 m. The soil is characterised by loess, slate and stony-sandy loam and offers an exciting terroir for Pinot Noir.
After 14 days of mash fermentation, the wine matured for ten months in barriques.
The fruity bouquet reveals aromas of wild berries, blackcurrants and blackberries. These fruit flavours can be discovered on the palate, as well as floral notes. The wine is characterised by its freshness and delicate elegance. This Pinot Noir offers good ageing potential.
The wine is an excellent accompaniment to light game dishes, such as roast saddle of venison with porcini mushrooms and red cabbage as a special recommendation for the colder days.
