Burg Layer Johannisberg – in the immediate vicinity of the village of Burg Layen, the vineyards lie at an altitude of 195 to 290 metres. The site, which faces south-east, has a slope of 16 to 33%. The soil consists mainly of stony loam, slate, quartzite and loess.
The long maturation period of 10 months on the fine lees – partly in traditional piece barrels and in steel tanks – led to the expression of a variety of aromas and the complexity of the wine.
An elegant combination of floral and fruity aromas – elderflower, mirabelle plum, apple and pear can be detected. This Pinot Blanc is a wonderfully soft, almost velvety wine that leaves a harmonious and long-lasting impression.
The wine goes perfectly with a souffled fillet of pike-perch in a Pinot Blanc-dill foam sauce.
