Within the immediate vicinity of the vineyard lies the south-facing site at an elevation of 155 to 216 meters. In addition to relatively flat areas, the slope reaches an inclination of up to 40% in some parcels. The majority of the 2.4 hectares property is planted with Riesling.
Gravelly-sandy loam and components of red sandstone, quartzite, and slate in the soils create long-lasting, elegant wines with distinctive minerality and fruit acidity.
The long maturation period of 10 months on the fine lees – partly in traditional barrels and partly in steel tanks – led to the development of a variety of flavours and the complexity of the wine.
The Riesling presents itself with an elegant minerality, accompanied by fruity notes of peach, apple and apricot. The fresh, lively acidity is well integrated by the minerality and contributes to the fine, filigree structure of the wine. With several years of ageing potential, this wine is both powerful and balanced.
An ideal accompaniment to fish dishes and a special recommendation for Amalfi chicken, a lemon chicken with herb skin. The herbs used, especially rosemary and sage, give the dish an aromatic flavour that goes perfectly with Riesling.
