Site
Burg Layer Rothenberg – the hillside site faces east-south-east and lies between 170 and 232 metres above sea level. The soil is characterised by loess, slate and stony-sandy loam and offers an exciting terroir for Pinot Noir.
Characteristic
After 14 days of maceration, the wine matured for fourteen months in barriques.
This Pinot Noir is complex and elegant. Aromas of dark fruit – blackberry, blackcurrant – can be discovered as well as earthy notes and liquorice. The wonderfully integrated wood, the silky texture paired with a pleasant coolness and a lingering finish characterise this great Burgundy. The wine offers ageing potential for many years.
Food Pairing
A versatile food companion that harmonises wonderfully with meat, game and braised dishes such as rack of lamb with herb crust or wild boar ragout with chanterelles.
