ORANGE WINE

A powerful, independent character with a Mediterranean soul.

SITE AND VINIFICATION

This wine is a special cuvée of Chardonnay, Auxerrois, Sauvignon Blanc Pinot Gris and Scheurebe. After harvesting the fully ripe grapes in the fall, some of the grapes underwent spontaneous maceration. The remaining grapes were fermented as whole bunches over a period of around two months (maceration carbonique) – a traditional process that has been used since ancient times. Both processes release additional aromas and colorants from the skins, which give the wine its special color and character. The wine is aged and matured for six months, partly in wooden barrels and partly in stainless steel tanks.

CHARACTERISTICS

The Orange Wine impresses with its striking aromas of orange zest, which are also powerfully reflected on the palate. This intense citrus profile is accompanied by fine quince and the characteristic freshness of Amalfi lemons. On the palate, the wine is juicy, balsamic and multi-layered – with depth, structure and a long-lasting finish. A powerful, independent character with a Mediterranean soul.

FOOD PAIRING

An expressive accompaniment to grilled octopus with fennel and orange salad or braised lamb with herbs de Provence. Also excellent with mature hard cheeses such as Comté or Pecorino.
